How to do backups[]
As you know, backups are a very important thing. GPS Monster Scouter supports you in maintaining your critical data about the monsters, routes, badges, and so on. There are two ways the game creates its backup files:
- Auto backup (see the game's option menu to set up the interval - it is set up to 12 hours by default)
- Custom backup (whenever you feel like a backup should be made, you can manually start a backup from the ingame menu "backup save data")
Be aware that there's two kinds of manual backups:[]
Backup Save Data is only for the current data pack that is in use.
Backup All Saves is to backup all data packs you have on your phone (if you only have one data pack on your phone then it'll do the same as Backup Save Data.
Restoring a backup[]
Warning: Be careful to only restore backups if it is really necessary! Be aware that you still might lose data or even break the game if you do one wrong step.
If you need to travel back in time for some reason, you can easily restore a backup.
- Check you phone's internal memory for a folder called "GPS Monster Scouter / backups" and see if you can find your backups there. Found them? Good.
- Do a manual copy of this folder and save it somewhere else. (this is optionally and just in case something goes really wrong)
- Uninstall GPS Monster Scouter via Google Play. Your folders should remain in their original position, since Google Play doesn't delete the game data (a custom Uninstaller tool may do!)
- Install GPS Monster Scouter again and start the app
- If your folder "GPS Monster Scouter / backups" was not deleted / empty and also your folder "GPS Monster Scouter / DataPacks" is still there and filled with your recent data pack, then all you need to do is click on "select datapack" in the app, confirm
- Now the App also asks if you want to start a new adventure or restore a backup. Click "restore" and choose the backup file you wish to go back to
